In the past we have owned a Bengal, Ruby, although we did not breed from her. A naughty girl, amusing and vocal but not very affectionate. I did think about another Bengal and also a Siamese, but as they are very vocal thought this would be the wrong cat for us (read Husband).
I was very kindly given an Aby kitten by my brother in law, breeder Andrew Allwood, and have been impressed with the breed and have loved their affectionate nature, inquisitive ways and funny habits, which can be wanting to sit on your shoulder to drinking water out of a running tap.
For me the cats are not just about their colours or a good point such as ear tufts, but their nature is far more important to me. It is with this in mind I decided that we would try for a litter of kittens from our Queen, Highlight Silver Blossom, known as Esmerelda, her sweet nature is to die for and the personality of the Sire of her kittens Speedy is equally important so, on meeting him I was tickled how a cat could be so confident and cheeky to a stranger, head butting you for attention dare you stop speaking to him, indeed!
I hope our kittens from Esme are so well socialized by our children and their friends that they will be exactly what someone is looking for in a cat, as well as being healthy and pleasing to the eye of course. They will also be in the company of our four year old male usual Aby, Romulus, otherwise known as “Pom Pom”, he also has a part to play in their development. I am a member of the Abyssinian Cat Assocation and UnusualAbyCats.
